We need to try to express a few thoughts of our own on the political scene. See how that would turn out. It might be a way of getting our own thinking in order.

What would be the first order of the day? To establish exactly what are the issues and why do we even need to think about the subject. Why do we really have to have an opinion about it?

Well, I suppose there are several reasons. We'll be asked to vote one of these days; we'll have to decide whether we want to vote or not. I guess we should vote. Our civic duty in this democratic republic.

But there are many issues that affect us. How do they really affect us? Well, first of all, we have to pay taxes. There are functions that the government fulfills, performs, that affects us. The roads, the highways, the police system, the justice system--now that's being extended to all sorts of areas: regulation, welfare, defense... it's a pretty complicated thing. So, how do you... the average person, do you want to go about your everyday life, do you want to have a resonable idea about you want the government to do for you. Is it good and right and appropriate, or do you think that it's excessive and that our liberties are being infringed upon.

First, you have to decide what you want out of life. I mean, do you want to... uh... do you want to indulge yourself in every whim and physical desire? Do you want to help your fellow man? Do you want to work for the glory of the Lord? Whatever that might be. Do you want to learn how to play trombone in a jazz band; do you want to obtain a little bit of glory yourself? Do you want to go fishing and enjoy that? Do you want to lie around having sex all day? Do you want to study and obtain as much knowledge as you can?

But that still doesn't get back to the basic questions about what are the political issues that you want to address: the Tea Party? Barack Obama and his presidency? The established parties: the Democratic Party and the Republican Party? Big business, labor unions, organized religion, the institution of marriage, organized sports? The capitalist economic system as we know it?

I suppose these are topics about which we should have an opinion. Well, we'll work on it. The immediate decisions we have are-- Are we going to vote for John Bozeman or Blanche Lincoln. Oh They're both pretty honest. I think they're both motivated to do a pretty good job. They have a conscience. On the other hand, they each represents special interest. I say that. Blanche Lincoln, I would say, represents certain special interests; do they align with your own?

Yeah, well, that's even hard to determine; candidate represents interests, your own interests, better than the other candidate. It's kind of hard to figure out.

What was that?

Something fell.

uhh

So, now, we have to come down with an opinion. The Tea Party is a good thing; the Tea Party is a good thing; the Tea Party is a bad thing; the Tea Party is a bad thing; the Republican Party is a party worthy of adherence; that represents the true interests of the country--individual... individual... effort and... is what makes this country great.

The idea that the government has to supply all of our needs is not good...

And slowly as you lose whatever mental faculties you ever had, it's going to become more and more difficult to function in society.
